WHO is Dean Hawk?

Dean is one of the nation’s most creative and contagious communicators. When you get around him or his teaching material you can’t help but raise the bar on your ministry presentations. Give him a biblical topic and he’ll create a visual message out of it. Jesus used spit, mud, seeds, weeds, farmers, and camels to convey his message. Dean has chosen to use items from our culture like a unicycle, boa constrictor, coffin, canoe, power tools, and more to bring the message of God’s Word alive to bored believers and uninterested non believers.

“But I haven’t seen him on Christian television?” Some people choose to send their message through the air waves, Dean has chosen to take the underground approach. Every week he preaches in over 8500 churches and cities yet no one knows his name or sees his face. But his voice and creativity is heard through the voices of pastors, youth pastors, and church leaders who use h2o Sermon Source (formerly h2o Youth Source) to spread the good news to their churches and communities.

Each month Dean Hawk Ministries sends out an “H2O Leadership Connection” email to over 35,000 ministry leaders around the world free of charge. Each edition is filled with practical ministry training and insight to help pastors and leaders fulfill the vision God has given them.

Dean has served in the full time ministry for over 26 years as a youth pastor, associate pastor, Bible college instructor, and conference speaker. He is the founder and president of Dean Hawk Ministries and H2O Sermon Source which began as an avenue to help equip other leaders. In June 2004 his focus shifted from a youth ministry emphasis to the role of a senior pastor. He made a 20 year commitment and planted Rock Family Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a handful of people, which has been doubling in size each year.

WHAT about the personal side of life?

Dean has been married to the love of his life, Kim, for 24 years. Monday is their date day every week and they both get a little cranky when their day gets interrupted. Life is fun at the Hawk house with two teenage drivers and a “wannabe” driver close behind. Dean and Kim have three teenagers; Alesha 18, Allyson 17, and Preston 14.

Dean enjoys skiing, working out at the gym, and anything with a dare. He gave up dirt biking after broken ribs and an ankle. He would love to go sky diving and bungee jumping but he is not allowed, not enough room to explain. Kim oversees the DHM offices, teaches aerobics, and assists in various ways at the church. But her favorite role is playing “mom” and making sure everyone eats at least one healthy meal a day.
